01 ā PROMPT IDEA
Get ChatGPT to assist you using ChatGPT š¤šš¤
In a recent online workshop, an attendee shared a great prompt that he uses regularly to improve his own prompts (Hat tip to Jamie Kavanagh!)
Prompt: Act a prompt engineer, review the following prompt, optimise it and ask me many questions before proceeding:
{YOUR PROMPT GOES HERE}
Why this matters
Prompting is a new skill to develop. Developing āmeta skillsā like this to continually improve your prompting is an excellent long-term investment of your time.
02 ā CHAT GPT Tip
1+1 = ? // ChatGPT and Maths š§®
Itās important to remember that ChatGPT is not a calculator, but a language model. It loves words, but can struggle with numbers!
Gary messaged us to tell us about his challenges with using ChatGPT for maths, with it making some mistakes while working on calculations.
If you want to use ChatGPT for maths, we suggest using a āCustom GPTā which is designed for this specific task.
How?
Go to chatgpt.com
Click āExplore GPTsā in the top left menu bar:
Search for your topic (in this instance, āMathematicsā in the search box that opens. For Maths, we recommend a Custom GPT called Wolfram, but there are many others to choose from.
Give the Custom GPT your prompt and see if this delivers a better reply.
Why this matters
Learning to use Custom GPTs allows you to work on specialised tasks in a more powerful way. With GPTs for accounting, engineering, programming, productivity and more - you will be able to unlock more value out of ChatGPT. (Best of all - theyāre free!)
03 ā NEW TECH
Say Hello to Apple Intelligence
In case you missed it, Apple announced its hotly anticipated entrance into the world of AI with āApple Intelligenceā.
This is a new set of AI features speckled throughout the various Apple productās software.
Why this matters
While to many the features announced represent catchup and not true innovation, this announcement is good for the world of AI, since it bakes AI into Appleās 2.2 billion Apple devices. More competition will lead to more powerful systems - and further rewards those of us (like you!) who are actively engaged in the topic.
BONUS: Reader Question
Q: Last issue, Neil got in touch to ask us - ā Is it relatively easy to integrate a Custom GPT into a website?ā
Neil had developed his own GPT, and wanted to see if he could take it out of the ChatGPT environment and into his own website.
A: In short, no. In slightly longer - it can be done, but itās definitely not relatively easy, and a lot of functionality can be lost. It requires a knowledge of APIs and often the use of third-party apps to connect this together.
