Mosaic Swift has been unusually unswift lately. I’d love to blame an unreliable AI agent, but the truth is there’s been a fair bit changing at Mosaic Partners!

Jamie and Jeremy have stepped away from the day-to-day, and I (Andrew) am now leading Mosaic Partners. We’ve also welcomed Simon, our new AI for Better Work trainer. If you’ve been to an online workshop lately, you may have already met him (and experienced his sense of humour!).

With all that change, it seemed like a good time to give the Swift newsletter a bit of a refresh too. So, welcome to The Good AI Brief. We’ll be back each month with useful AI updates and practical tidbits to try.

In this update:

Fireflies automatically joins and transcribes your meetings, then gives you a summary and action items afterwards - no more frantic note-taking mid-call. We use it for client and team meetings, and it's saved a lot of "wait, what did we agree?" moments. Free plan available, or upgrade for unlimited storage and export function.

ChatGPT’s new Work feature can take on bigger, multi-step tasks using information from your connected apps and files. Ask it to pull together scattered information for a meeting, analyse feedback, or turn your findings into a presentation. You can check in and change direction along the way, or set regular tasks to run automatically. Handy for the jobs that usually involve a lot of jumping between apps and pulling things together yourself.

Xero's new JAX features now flag unreconciled transactions, duplicates, missing documents and anything unusual in your books, then help you sort them out, right inside the ledger. There's also XeroForce, a new no-code tool that lets you describe a repetitive task in plain English (chasing missing receipts, month-end journals), and it builds the automation for you. No developer required. If you're already in Xero every week, this is worth a look next time you log in.

Most people open ChatGPT and try to write the perfect brief in one go. Try the below instead; get AI to interview you.

It's a small shift, but it means you don't have to organise your thinking before you start; AI does that part for you. Works for briefs, plans, even difficult emails.

If you're an existing Regional Business Partner Network customer, the Government's AI Advisory Pilot now covers up to 150 businesses and runs through to 31 January 2027, with up to 50% co-funding capped at $15,000 to build an AI plan with an expert. Worth a call to your local Regional Business Partner if you've been putting it off.

AUT researchers have trained an AI model to recognise possum calls in bush recordings, helping conservation teams track down the last few holdouts in predator-free areas. Turns out teaching a computer to know possum calls is easier than convincing the last possum to leave.
