01 — UPDATE

3 Things is now Mosaic Swift ✨

You may have noticed this newsletter has a new name - “Mosaic Swift”.

It remains completely free and focussed on growing your AI skills in just 5 minutes a fortnight.

Starting today it will actually come out each fortnight too (Rather than every now and then!)

And, if you want to grow your AI skills even more, we’re now offering something called “Mosaic Swift Pro”.

This includes:

  1. Pro Videos: videos supporting Mosaic Swift content. These provide a deep-dive into the latest ways to do better work with AI, with extra explanation and demos from the newsletter.

  2. Office Hours: each month join our experts online for a one hour live drop-in session. Bring your questions, learn some tips and get feedback on your prompts.

  3. Workshop: watch or rewatch our flagship two-hour workshop at your own speed. Broken into bite-sized videos (normally $300 by itself)

02 — NEW FEATURE

Introducing ChatGPT Canvas 🎊

ChatGPT have just introduced Canvas - a new way of working with AI when you’re wanting to write. Canvas opens up a writing-specific interface, that allows you to edit text, adjust the length of the writing, change the reading level - and more.

Why this matters

This transforms the writing experience with ChatGPT. You no longer need to copy and paste text to a word-processor to edit it, but can make any adjustments you want on the fly. Additionally, you can simply click a button to change the length and level - allowing you to make significant changes without typing a prompt.

This will both speed up the writing process and deliver better quality outcomes, as it is now far easier to make little improvements - while seeing instant results.

03 — PROMPT TIPS

Using ChatGPT Canvas for Writing ✍️

If you’re keen to start writing with ChatGPT Canvas, here’s a few quick tips for you:

  1. You’ll need ChatGPT Plus. Canvas is currently being tested on paying subscribers to ChatGPT. OpenAI are going to make this available for free users at a later date - but haven’t said when this will be.

  2. Prompt ChatGPT that you are writing. OpenAI have put in “triggers” to activate Canvas to open. Be as clear as possible that you are wanting to write something - e.g., “Write me a blog about…”

  3. Know what you want. It can be overwhelming with all the quick edits available, and you may find yourself chopping and changing without intent. Spend a minute before you write, clarifying - “What is the final product I want here? What will make this a good piece of writing?” This will give your use of the tools a clear intent, leading to a great result.

Make anything cake 🍰

And finally, for something with absolutely no usage at work.. but pretty fun!

Plus, it’s a glimpse of how people without special video editing skills can apply special effects, simply by prompting.

One of the leading AI video systems, Pika has recently introduced the ability to easily apply fun effects to any image. Such as..

Squish:

Inflate:

..and “Cake-ify”:

Have a great week ahead!
